DECIDING WHICH FINANCIAL PROFESSIONAL YOU NEED

In the early stages of a company's development day-to-day financial management is performed primarily by the Controller with strategic advice provided by the interim CFO.  This type of resource allocation enables our clients to cost-effectively obtain the skills they need only when they need them.  As a company grows, the need for CFO services increases.  The chart below outlines how we recommend our clients leverage our expertise while minimizing their expenditures on the finance function.

Four Stages of Growth

CFO AND CONTROLLER SERVICES

Our team of highly experienced finance professionals perform the duties of a CFO and/or a Controller.

The CFO is primarily responsible for mitigating the company's financial risk. In the early stages a CFO focuses on cash flow management and investor reporting.  At later stages a CFO is instrumental in running all aspects of financial management and serves as a partner to the CEO.

The Controller is the point person for all issues related to accounting and financial reporting.  Like the CFO, Controller responsibilities very by company stage of development.  Early on the Controller acts as a bookkeeper, making sure that every dollar that is spent is recorded and spent wisely.  As the company grows, the Controller is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting and establishing internal controls.  It is also common for Controllers to oversee benefits and compensation for company employees.
